Traditional Healer of Asclepiadoideae of Apocynaceae in Bankura, West Bengal

The present communication deals with the ethno-botanical exploration, identification of some plants formerly Asclepiadaceae that are treated as subfamily Asclepiadoideae, milkweed family Apocynaceae (order Gentianales) per APG III system classification. this being used frequently by rural people Bankura. During investigation, a total 14 species Asclepiadoideae have been reportedthey were local health healers for treatment different diseases. Among them Calotropisgigantea, Hemidesmusindicus, Pergulariadaemia, Telosmapallida, Tylophoraindica, leading variety problems. As reported informants, roots most important part herbal preparation followed whole plant, leaf and fruit. Bankura good knowledge about ethno-medicinal legacy traditional culture must be conserved. So paper depicts various plant resources ethno-medicinewith special reference to Asclepiadoideae.
